Kitchen - Day Three...

We're getting close to being finished now! (Again, we being Todd... I just do my best to irritate him by pestering him the whole time he's working.) Todd painted the island today, and we will get the new top for it tomorrow. We will also grout the tile tomorrow, and then seal it the next day so.... we should have all of the major work done by tomorrow night, and have it completely finished by Wednesday. Yay!

Here are a few pictures of the island... Todd distressed it very lightly & it turned out great!

And here is the last of the tumbled marble installation. Just a little spot, but it was time consuming... lots of cuts!

Can't wait till tomorrow!

Kitchen, Day Two...

Well, it's not quite the end of day two, but I wanted to post a few pictures of what has been done so far.

So here's the valance above our sink before...

And here it is after...

I really like what Todd did with the pattern under the valance - he's pretty creative! Right now he is working on the last area we are tiling, which is right above the desk. He was going try to finish it tonight, but I think he'll wrap it up and get some rest! Here he is getting started, so consider this the before shot!

Kitchen stuff - Day One...

I really wish I had something witty to write tonight, but it's past midnight and my already limited mom brain can only give me so much in a day... so I'll cut to the chase - we're doing a few projects in our kitchen and I wanted to post pictures of what we did today! (When I say we I mean 85% Todd, 15% me)

Today was day one for our kitchen backsplash, and we're almost half-way! (Well, half-way done hanging it... then comes sealing & grout & stuff....) I didn't get complete "before" pictures... he had already started, but you can get a pretty good idea of what it looked like.
Before...

And, after!

I have to say that Todd did an awesome job - he worked late to get it done, and I think his work turned out beautifully - Yes, I'm bragging on my husband but he deserves it! (Thanks Toddie!)

Brrrr!

It's finally arrived - the dreaded time of year where I apparently need to leave my heat on at night - it was 66 degrees in my house this morning. That temperature might work for people like my sister, where that's the average temp. in her home anyway, but for me (who enjoys my house at a balmy 74 degrees) it is too cold! However, it was a good excuse to have a hot mug of postum with buttery toast for breakfast! (ok well it was actually Pero, but I think it's the same thing...)

Well, that's it for this morning - I have no new pictures to post, but I figured I ought put something new on here. (Off to pray that the weatherman's warm mid-week prediction comes true!)

First day of Preschool...

Rendan actually missed the first day because we were on vacation, but this was his first day of preschool. The only concern he had when we got there was that he might have to leave when I did.

A little late posting, but...

UBIC (local celebration) took place the last weekend of July/first weekend of August, so I'm a little slow to get this up here! Anyway, part of the festivities include a parade on Saturday morning - as always, we enjoyed the parade from our usual spot in front of my mother/father-in-law's store. The following week, we saw this picture in our local paper as part of the UBIC coverage - the three cuties on the left are my nephews, and the little girl standing to the right of Makayla is my sweet little niece, who was visiting from the city. My grandma called the newspaper office, and they were kind enough to send her a copy. Too cute!

September fun :)

It's been a busy month so far - the kids & I just returned from a trip to Lake Powell (Todd had to work, blah!) The weather was great & we can't wait to go back next year!

Kayla started first grade a few weeks ago, but I forgot to take my camera, so I'll get some pictures of her up eventually. Rendan had his preschool open house last week, and he was very excited to go! (I did remember my camera that day)
